Cajun Shrimp Rigatoni

Basic recipes are my favorite to make because they’re so convenient in terms of how fast they can be prepared but you can still make them your own and full of flavor. The ingredients in this recipe are common household ingredients and the time from start to finish should be about 25 minutes.

Equipment

  • KitchenAid® K400 Blender
  • Two 12-cup nonstick muffin pans
  • Citrus zester
  • Sharp knife

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Lb box Rigatoni pasta
  • 1 Quart Heavy cream
  • 3 Cup Parmesan cheese
  • 3 Tsp Cajun spice rub
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Sugar
  • 1 Lb Shrimp
  • 1 Tsp Cajun spice rub
  • ½ Tsp Salt

Cajun Spice Rub

  • 3 Tbsp Paprika
  • 2 Tbsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp Garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp Ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Onion powder
  • 1 Tbsp Dried oregano
  • 1 Tbsp Cayenne
  • ½ Tbsp Dried thyme

Instructions
 

  • Begin boiling the water for our pasta. Add salt TT and olive oil once water comes to a boil and cook pasta.
  • In the meantime, make cajun spice rub by combining all the seasonings. Use 1 Tsp of the rub to season shrimp along with ½ Tsp salt then cook. 
  • Put a tablespoon of butter and the garlic in a sauce pot then cook Shrimp. Remove the shrimp from pot, then add Heavy Cream. There should be fond from the shrimp in the pan which is perfect because you want the flavor from the shrimp infused into the sauce. When it begins to simmer gradually add parmesan. Then add Cajun seasoning, and a pinch of sugar. The Cajun seasoning should be added to the pasta based on how flavorful you want it. When adding it start with one teaspoon and then continue to add until you get the desired amount of flavor.
  • At this point your pasta should be done; add it to the sauce and then add the shrimp. Combine and top with parmesan cheese and freshly chopped flat leaf parsley for garnish.
